Temporary Skill Shortage Visa

Subclass 482

This temporary visa lets an employer sponsor a suitably skilled worker to fill a position they can’t find a suitably skilled Australian to fill. There are short-term stream and medium-term stream included this visa. For short-term stream, applicants can stay for up to 4 years if an International Trade Obligation applies.

Applicants must be nominated to work in an occupation on the list of eligible short-term skilled occupations for at least 2 years. The relevant skills assessment is required as well. Eligibility:

  • Be the holder of an appropriate visa

  • Be nominated by an approved sponsor

  • Work for your nominating employer for at least 2 years

  • Have relevant skills, qualifications and employment background to perform occupation

  • Have a positive skills assessment

 

Training Visa

Subclass 407

This visa allows you to take part in workplace-based occupational training activities to improve your skills for your job, area of tertiary study, field of expertise or in a professional development training program in Australia. With this visa, you can complete a workplace-based training, or a professional development training program for up to 2 years in Australia. You also can bring your family members while holding this visa.

If you are in Australia when applying this Training Visa (Subclass 407), you must hold a valid temporary substantive visa including: Subclass 403, 771, or Special Purpose Visa. Your sponsor must have nominated you to participate in a program of occupational training, and there are 3 types of occupational training covered by this visa. Temporary Activity Visa

Subclass 408

This visa allows you to come to Australia to do specific types of work on a short-term, temporary basis. The temporary activity includes: work in the entertainment industry, work in a skilled position under a staff exchange arrangement, work as full-time domestic work in the household of certain senior foreign executives, participate in Australian government endorsed events or Australian organisation, do religious work, participate in an Australian research project, participate in sports activities, work as a superyacht crew member.

If you are invited by an organisation to participate in an event, the visa allows you to stay up to 3 months. If you are participating in Australian government activities, the visa allows you to stay up to 4 years. If you hold this visa due to other activities, the visa allows you to stay up to 2 years.

  • Have an approved sponsor

  • Have the skills to undertake the activity to be carried out in Australia

  • Meet additional requirements of relevant temporary activity stream

 

Employer Nomination Scheme Visa

Subclass 186

This visa lets skilled workers, who are nominated by their employer, live and work in Australia permanently. You must have an occupation on the relevant list of eligible skilled occupations. There are 3 different streams included in this visa:

  1. Direct Entry Stream

  2. Labour agreement Stream

  3. Temporary Residence Transition Stream

For Direct Entry Stream, you must have relevant work experiences in their occupation for at least 3 years. The applicants must be aged under 45 at the time of application be made for Direct Entry Stream. Also, applicants need to meet the English requirement. For Labour agreement Stream, your employer must have a labour agreement. For Temporary Residence Transition Stream, applicants must hold a 482, TSS or related bridging visa A, B or C when applying the visa. You must have relevant work experiences in their occupation for at least 3 years as well. Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional Visa (Provisional)

Subclass 494

This visa enables regional employers to address identified labour shortages within their region by sponsoring skilled workers where employers can't source an appropriately skilled Australian worker. With this visa, you can work and study only in designated regional areas of Australia for 5 years, you can bring your family members while holding this visa. If eligible, you can apply for permanent residence after 3 years. Designated regional areas include all of Australia except for Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
